

Katie Mae Archie, 90, of Cedar Park, Texas passed away on January 8, 2017. She was born October 29, 1926 in Liberty Hill, Texas. Katie's mom passed away when she was a young child. Her father Edward Washington struggled to raise his young daughter, and he entrusted Katie to the care of her grandparents, Isiah and Mary Elizabeth Washington.
On May 6, 1954, Katie married O'Bannon Archie. God blessed them with two children, Dorothy Mae Bunton and Isiah Archie.
In addition to being a devoted parent, she spread her love and care to others by working as a caregiver for over 20 years. She started her career as a Nurses Aid at Colorado State Home and Training School. She received a Medicine Tech Certificate while in Colorado, and when she returned to Texas she continued her care at Travis State Hospital. Katie retired from Travis State Hospital in 1984, with love and admiration from all her patients and coworkers.
Katie was a member of Mount Sinai Baptist Church from her childhood and well into her adulthood Katie was not an active member of a church in later years but she was a true believer that Christ was her Lord and Savior. She studied her Bible and meditated on the words of the Bible, up until her health declined; but still gave advice from Bible based principles to those in need of advice.
She is survived and cherished in memory by, her daughter, Dorothy Bunton, son, Isiah Archie, and his wife Gayla Marnette Archie; Katie was also blessed with 8 grandchildren, Elijah Archie, Ivory Louis Lee, Isiah Quinton Archie, Whitney Elvera Archie, Jamison Moses Archie, Jasmine Marnette Archie, Leaya Renee Archie, and Faith Ianna Archie.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 27, 2017 from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville, Texas. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow services at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville, Texas.
