

Leslie James Marshall was born February 29, 1944 (a Leap Year Baby) in Austin, Texas. He was the second of five children born to Florine and Bennie Sam Marshall both preceding him in death along with his oldest brother Bennie Lee Marshall. Through his father’s prior marriage, he had a sister Bobbie Jean Marshall of Los Angeles that preceded him in death.
Also preceding him in death was his first wife, Linda Katherine Wright, mother of Tammy Lynn Thomas and Brian Keith Marshall.
Leslie married Laura Faye Mitchell to their union fathered Lisa Chandler. He embraced Loretta Mitchell, Terence Braggs and Tracy Mitchell as his own children.
He discovered his love of mechanics at a young age. He became a mechanic and devoted his free time to restoring old cars and producing some of the finest racing cars known to Austin, Texas. The Marshall brothers racing cars remain legendary to this date.
Leslie accepted Christ at an early age under the sanctuary of Rising Star Baptist Church in Austin, Texas. He later renewed his faith with Christ at St. Mary Baptist Church in Pflugerville, Texas.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his, loving wife of 35 years, Laura Marshall, his children, Brian Keith Marshall (Regina) of Pflugerville, Tammy Lynn Thomas (Ron) of Moore, OK, Lisa Chandler (Leslie) Grand Prairie, Loretta Mitchell, Terence Braggs and Tracy Mitchell all of Austin.
He also leaves three sisters Delores Lace of College Park, GA, Joyce Cobb of Austin, and Tish Marshall of Los Angeles a brother Dwain Marshall (Sheri) of Austin. He also leaves his aunt, Willie Mae Harris and three uncles, Bob (Chester) McGregor, Dale McGregor of Los Angeles, and Bill McGregor of Seattle. He had nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren, his best friend and brother Dale Gunn and a host of other relatives and friends.
