Linda Marie Dorman, 66, died peacefully at home with the love of her life by her side on December 2, 2025. She was born on May 6, 1959 in Detroit, Michigan to M. Roberta & Charles E. Dorman, and grew up in Brookfield, Wisconsin just outside Milwaukee. Linda earned her Bachelor of Science in Business degree from University of Wisconsin – Stout in 1981. She later earned her Associate Degree in Nursing at Austin Community College in 1998, and then her Master of Arts in Chaplaincy and Pastoral Care at the Seminary of the Southwest in 2018.
She was a true renaissance woman with a varied career that ranged from managing a family restaurant and working in software sales with the Dell Corporation to ICU nursing and hospital chaplaincy. It was her latter two careers that allowed her many talents to shine. She comforted, ministered, and brought joy to thousands of patients and their families in her 25 plus years in healthcare. Linda’s bright smile, witty sense of humor, and contagious laughter made her a quick favorite of colleagues and friends. She loved to travel, especially to the beach or on a cruise, and she was renowned for her passion for old movies, iconic hotels, and disco.
Linda was preceded in death by her mother, M. Roberta Dorman, and sister, Beverly A. Dorman. She is survived by her life partner, Robin Smedley; father, Charles E. Dorman and wife Ann; brother, James R. Dorman; sisters, Nancy Norris and husband David, Sandy White and husband Lee; nephew, Zachary Norris and wife Erin; Nieces, Courtney Groth and husband Jordan; Alexandra White; and great-nephew, Rowan Groth.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 11, 2025 in the Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, with a prayer service starting at 6:30 PM. The funeral service will be 10:00 AM on Friday, December 12, 2025 in the St. David's Episcopal Church, 301 E. 8th Street, Austin, Texas.
