Colonel Retired Lloyd A. Evans was born January 13, 1947, in Brenham, Texas, to the late Thomas and Ruby Evans. He passed away peacefully in the hospital, surrounded by his wife, O’Quinn “Pat” Evans, daughter, Marinda J. Ross, son, Llyod B. Evans, grandson, Anthony Ross, and close family member, GiGi, Clarence, Dellareese, and Ashley. Up until the end, Llyod maintained his kindness, compassion, and love for family and friends. Expressing his gratitude for his loving life, full of wonderful and varied experiences. He truly had a heart of gold, always looking out for others, lending a listening ear, and his arms for a hug.
Lloyd professed Christ at an early age. He graduated Salutatorian from Prairie View High School in Brenham, Texas, and attended Prairie View A&M University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in engineering and was commissioned into the United States Army as 2nd Lieutenant. He spent 26 years serving his country and retired as a Colonel. He and his family traveled to many assignments, including Panama, Germany, and West Africa. He earned his master’s in engineering during his service from the University of Oklahoma.
Lloyd is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Pat; his children, Marinda J. Ross and his son, Lloyd B. Evans; and the lights of his life, grandchildren Michael A. Ross, Andre J. Evans, and Savannah Waynes. Lloyd is also survived by his brothers, Otis D. Evans, Thomas J. Evans, and James A. Evans, along with numerous family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his Father, Thomas J. Evans Sr., his mother, Ruby Evans, and his grandmother, Edna Evans.
The Family would like to extend a special thanks to his brother-in-law, Clarence, and his wife, Dellareese Pennie, who was at Lloyd’s bedside every day, all day, until his passing. Also, to all who were there, extending their help, support, and Compassion. Special thank you to those who helped Pat with the planning of the Repass, with a special thank you to Brother Otis and his wife, Fannie, Val Soliz, and Pastor Juan Sanchez.
A visitation for Lloyd will be held Tuesday, September 23, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660.
A celebration of life will occur Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at 11:00 AM at High Pointe Baptist Church, 12030 Dessau Rd, Austin, Texas 78754.
A committal service with honors will occur Thursday, September 25, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 11463 TX-195, Killeen, Texas 76542.
