

Lorraine Southmayd passed from this life on June 27, 2012. She was born (Ethel) Lorraine Gray in Olney, Texas, on May 1, 1921 to Ethel Wainscott Gray and Dennie Gray. She was working as a telephone operator in Mineral Wells when she met her husband, Wynn Southmayd. They were married in Edinburg and had two sons before they moved to Austin in 1948. Lorraine worked as the office manager in the family business, Graphic Studios.
Lorraine had a group of lifelong girlfriends with whom she played card games and traveled to Europe, Alaska, and Canada. She was a member of the UMW at Asbury United Methodist Church where she attended faithfully from 1951 until last month. She was an accomplished landscape artist, cook, and hostess.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband and sister, Ottie Mae King. She leaves behind son David Winthrop Southmayd, son Robert Shannon and wife Candace Southmayd, her children, Dave and Christina Cinotto, Chuck and Natalie Cinotto and their children Astrid and Atticus, brother-in-law NT King, nephew Brian King, and numerous cousins. Her holiday dinners will be greatly missed by her family. She will also be mourned by several very spoiled cats!
Lorraine’s family will receive guests prior to the funeral service being held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville, Texas. The committal service will follow in Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery.
