The son of the late Malcolm Young Walker, Sr., and Vera Dell Owen Walker, both of Temple, Texas, Malcolm was born March 21, 1934, in Buckholts, Texas. A child of the Great Depression who had lived through World War II, he grew up on a dairy farm where he worked with his father and brothers throughout his high school years.
