He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth "Betty"; his children, Jim and Cathy; and his five grandsons as well as daughter-in-law, Alice, and son-in-law, Nick. Betty and Jim were devoted to each other and celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on February 18, 2020.
Jim was born and raised in Algonac, Michigan. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea. After the army, he worked at Vandenburg Air Force Base in California on the Apollo lunar module. He raised his family in North Aurora, Illinois where he began the electronics program at Waubonsee Community College. He was also an active member of the North Aurora Lions Club.
After 10 years of teaching, he entered the emerging field of computer technology which brought him to Austin, Texas in 1985. He was an active member of Saint Albert The Great Church in North Austin and its "Great Club". He could often be found at Cafe Java with his wife and "Great Club" friends enjoying his favorite breakfast of fried eggs and bacon and a bottomless coffee cup.
He loved his childhood waterfront home in Algonac, listening to music, and spending time with his family. He was a good friend who will be missed by all who knew him.
