caring for her husband and son, and delighted in spending time with her grandchildren, siblings,
nieces and nephews and her dear friends, old and new. She loved to be around people and was very
social. Throughout her life she was very active in her local United Methodist Church, her Sunday
School class, and the United Methodist Women. She was also an active member of Beta Sigma Phi
International, a non-collegiate Sorority. For several years, Margie worked in the Banking and Savings
& Loan Industries, working her way from Secretary to Executive Secretary and moving into Customer
Service, ultimately retiring as an Assistant Vice President-Customer Accounts with Surety Saving
Association in El Paso, Texas.
Margie was born on August 18, 1928 in Hamlin, Texas, the youngest child of Clingman David Hudson
and Myrtle Peel Hudson. During Margie’s childhood, the family moved to Coleman, Texas, where she
graduated from Coleman High School, Class of 1945. She was a drum major and played in the
school orchestra. She was an exceptionally fast typist and preferred to type rather than hand write her
letters, notes and recipes.
On November 6, 1949, Margie married her high school classmate, Charles E. Williams, at the First
Methodist Church in Coleman, Texas. Charles passed away in 2012, just a month shy of their 63rd
wedding anniversary.
Margie enjoyed entertaining, eating out at a favorite restaurant, playing cards or dominoes with
friends, working puzzles or creating games to play with her grandchildren. She loved being at the lake
and was an avid water skier in her younger days. She especially enjoyed musicals with great dance
routines. She would have been the quintessential 1950’s housewife, except she worked for most of
her adult life. She was the Career/Working Mother role model to many that knew her.
Margie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and all her siblings - brother, C.D. “Hoot”
Hudson, Jr., and sisters, Oswald “Ozzie” Harlow, Hannah Browning and Ida DeRan. She is survived
by her son, Michael Joe (Evelyn) of Lewisville, Texas, grandchildren Kelly (Joe) Carpenter of Rowlett,
Texas, Alex (Emma) Williams of Aubrey Texas, and two great-grandchildren, Henry Williams and
Asher Carpenter. As well as nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Her memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the First United
Methodist Church in Lewisville, Texas. Interment will be on May 4, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Elmwood
