Maria A. Martinez

She is survived by one son, Michael Anthony Santos and his wife D'Ann Underwood-Santos of Austin, Texas. One grandson, Michael A. Santos II and his fiancé Noe Santiago of Round Rock, Texas. Brothers Joe B. Martinez and his wife Rosie of Austin, Texas and Florencia Martinez and his wife Terry of Austin, Texas. Sister Henretta Hernandez and her husband Rudy from Denver, Colorado.

Preceding her death, brother Chalio Martinez and sisters Cora Alaniz, Nancy Celestino and Angelina Romero.

She will be missed by many nieces, nephews and cousins scattered throughout the state of Texas.

A devoted, lifelong catholic, Maria was a member of several rosary groups and enjoyed the fellowship she had with each group. She was blessed to be able to travel and visit Medugorje in Bosnia which was a wish fulfilled for her.

Maria worked in the grocery industry for Warehouse Grocery, Kroger's and HEB. She retired from HEB at 65 and then worked part-time at the Frank Erwin Center. Her time at the Erwin Center fueled her love for sports especially women's basketball and volleyball. She remained an avid fan of UT women's sports always watching their games on TV.

The family would like to thank St. David's Hospital doctors, nurses and caretaking staff along with Three Oaks Hospice for their outstanding dedication, care and kindness.
