Marian Wiseman Greenwood passed away peacefully on April 4, 2012 in Georgetown, Texas where she had enjoyed an active life of retirement at Sun City. She was born on October 24, 1925 in Hamilton, Ohio.
She married Charles Greenwood, Jr. in 1946 and they had four children and 35 years together. They were active in the church and Marian’s deep faith was her guide throughout her life. Family and friends were everything to her and she gave her all to making others feel at home in her company. Having been trained as a nurse she was many times a tireless caregiver to help those in need and did volunteer work for the church and hospitals. She organized countless gatherings and was the ultimate hostess and a wonderful cook. After raising her children she worked for several state agencies including the Governor’s office for several administrations. Retiring to Sun City she continued her passions for people, music, reading, a little dog named Mandy, and a lifelong love of swimming. As a young woman she performed in synchronized swimming events in Florida and that adventure was one of her favorite memories. She was truly one to celebrate life with great joy.
Her youngest daughter Mary Beth Durfor preceded Marian in death last year in Austin, Texas. Survivors include her children Charles Greenwood and wife Sherry, Gayle Perdue and husband James, Annie Albright and husband Bernie, grandson Gabriel Perdue and wife Jyotsna of Chicago, brother Richard Wiseman and wife Annie of Sun City, sister Carol Smith and husband John of Chicago, son-in-law Dr. John Durfor, sister-in-law Patsy Goldrick Inman of Dallas, and her many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. She recently learned to her delight that she was soon to have a great grandchild. We would like to give special thanks to devoted neighbor Laurie Schwenk and to the wonderful caregivers and hospice staff at the Wesleyan at Scenic whose kind and loving care gave so much comfort to Marian and her family.
Memorial services celebrating Marian’s life will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville.
