His parents were Gilbert F. and Doris (Johnson) Nauert. He attended Lanier High School, where he was active in the FFA, and graduated in 1971. He was drafted into the U. S. Army in November of 1971 and was stationed at Ft. Gordon, Georgia for eight weeks. He was sent to Vietnam, where he served as a military policeman and was honorably discharged in 1972. For his service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device, Good Conduct Medal (first award) and the Sharpshooter Badge with M16 Rifle Bar.
He was a carpet layer and was good at building things with his hands. He was a good and caring person and immensely enjoyed being with his family. He loved his Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Longhorns. He was very proud of his 2003 Chevy pick-up truck that was painted with the Cowboys blue and silver colors.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his sister, Betty Mulholland of Schulenburg; sister, Joyce Altman and her husband, Spencer of Dripping Springs; brother, Gilbert E. Nauert and wife Barbara of Taylor; sister, Bonnie Nauert of Austin; and sister, Connie Nauert Troupe of Austin. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law, J. Mulholland.
The family would like to thank hospice and the doctors and nurses at St. David’s hospital for all their care.

Marvin, you may be gone from our sight, but you will never be gone from our hearts. We won’t cry because it is over… we will smile because it happened.
