Mary Romero Casey was born in Cotula, Texas on October 13, 1923 to Benigno and Felisita (Perez) Romero. Mary was blessed to have two loving, devoted sons, Simon and Ferman. They were the love of her life all her days.
Mary worked at Concordia University for 20 years, sharing her love of children with all of the students she came in contact with. She also worked at St. Davids Round Rock Medical Center until she retired. Mary had a loving, gentle spirit that made her popular with fellow employees, patients and their families.
Throughout her life, Mary adored her Savior, Jesus Christ. Her faith was steadfast, never wavering. She would seek Him constantly, never more so than when her beloved son, Simon, passed away several years ago. Though her pain was great, she was a comfort to all others. Mary knew that one day she and Simon would be together in Heaven, never to be apart again.
During her life Mary had many, many people who loved her dearly as daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. She was cherished by all who knew her for her sense of humor, laughter, quiet strength and recollection of memories that many half her age could not recall.
God especially blessed a co-worker, Sharon Jenkins, by bringing Mary into her life in 1995. This special relationship grew for the next 16 years as they became mother and daughter, not related by blood, but brought together by God, the love they shared for one another and Jesus Christ. We rejoice that "Mama Mary" now wears her crown in Heaven but will miss her, forever and always.
