

Mary Cox passed away Monday, December 24, 2012 at the age of 96. Viewing will be Sunday, December 30, 2012 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Pflugerville on Monday, December 31, 2012 at 10:00a.m. Burial services will be at 3:30p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery in Teague, Texas.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Rebecca JoAnne Cox; her daughter-in-law, Brenda Blanton Cox; her son, James Arthur Cox and his wife Patricia; her daughter, Victoria Lynn and husband Garland Bullock; two sisters, Mrs. Katherine Lighthouse of San Marcos and Mrs. Grace Wilson of Lufkin; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Hugh Cox, Sr.; her son, Samuel Hugh Cox, Jr.; and her brother, J.T. Pryor, Jr.
Mary was an active member of First Baptist Church of Pflugerville. She loved music and learned to play piano and organ at a very young age. Mary also enjoyed painting, sewing and cooking. She worked in the retail business until 1980 when she retired from TG&Y.
Mary will be remembered by her family and friends as a loving, fun, generous person who was not afraid to speak the truth, especially God’s truth. She was loved and will be greatly missed.
