Mary Jo Giese, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at Golden Creek Nursing Home in Navasota, Texas. She was 79 years of age. Mary Jo was a long time resident of Cedar Park and the Spring Branch area of Houston
Mary Jo was born on February 21, 1939 in Houston, Texas to the late Jacob L. Sparks and Mary Abbie Elizabeth (Langham) Sparks. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to so many.
Mary Jo will forever be remembered for her love of family. She was kind, giving and compassionate to everyone she met and her home was open to many. She loved anything that took her outdoors; camping with her family, the beach, the mountains, walking, fishing or going for a drive. Her hobbies included playing the piano, sewing, painting, cross stitch and word puzzles. She was active with all of her children in scouts and was a ham radio operator. She worked in the Spring Branch and Leander school districts in the cafeteria. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mary Jo was united in marriage to the late William P. Giese on December 23, 1956, in Houston TX.
She is survived by daughters Mary Lee (Giese) Nance and husband Frank of Windsor, CO; daughter Alice Joanna Giese of Cedar Park, TX; sons William (Bill) Giese of Brenham, TX; Douglas Giese and wife Jaton of San Angelo TX and Robert (Bobby) Giese of Katy, TX. She was affectionately known as “Granny” to 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary Jo was preceded in death by her sister Alice Blakely (Sparks) May.
Graveside and Committal Service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Sunday, May 27, 2018 at Cook Walden Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville.
