Mary Mooney, a long-time Austin resident, passed away on Monday, October 22, 2018, at the age of 85. Born January 12, 1933, Mary was the daughter of Lyle W. Smith and Lillian Laura (Spiegelhauer) Smith.
In 2009, Mary lost her beloved husband, Rogers Mooney. They met at the University of Texas where they were students, and shared 57 years of wedded bliss. Mary had a wonderful 30 year career as the secretary for the Texas State Library. She and her husband raised their two children, Cindy and Eddie, and they were blessed with four grandchildren, who she loved to spoil.
Mary is survived by her children, daughter, Cindy Wenske and husband, Mike and son, Edwin L. Mooney. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Kristin Wenske and husband Philip Meester, Justin Wenske, Brandon Wenske, and Michael Mooney.
There will be a time of visitation from 2:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville. Graveside services will follow at 4:00 p.m. at the Capital Parks Cemetery.
