Mary T Sherman

Mary Nellie Turnipseed Sherman, age 95, a resident of Georgetown since 2003 and formerly of Austin, Texas passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2017. She was born October 29, 1922 to Alvin and Viola Turnipseed in Lee County Texas.

She married Vernon Terrell Sherman on May 20th, 1939. They were married for 72 years. She is preceded in death by husband, Vernon, Son, Raymond Sherman and grandson Bobby Dinger, her parents and five brothers and four sisters.

She retired from the City of Austin, having worked for the Breckenridge school of nursing and as librarian for the Health Sciences Library. In later years, after retiring, she along with her husband, Vernon, worked with Texas Baptist Men for over 10 years building over 50 churches. She is currently a member of Crestview Baptist Church in Georgetown.

Mary is survived by one daughter, Doris Alexander of Georgetown, Tx; one sister, Dorothy Edwards of Elgin, TX; 5 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive guest for a time of visitation on Thursday evening from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, Texas. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday December 8, 2017.

Serving as pallbearers will be: George Dinger, Terry Alexander, Tim Alexander, Terry Sherman, Wes Dinger and Brandon Burditt.
