Mel graduated from McCollum High School in San Antonio, Texas. He married Kathryn Carla Sadowski on June 26, 1993. Mel worked as a System Analyst for the State of Texas. He also had a side business that provided continuing education for pesticide applicators. Mel had a passion for gardening, fishing, video games, BBQ and dancing (as a dance instructor for Arthur Murray.) But most of all, Mel enjoyed helping others.
Those left behind to cherish his memory include his wife, Kathryn Yell; his daughters, Victoria Elizabeth Yell and Vivian Nicole Yell; and his sisters, Peggy Westley, Carolyn Kezar, and Sandy Teinert.
A memorial service celebrating Mel’s life will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that contributions be made for a college fund for the girls or to Austin Pets Alive.
