Millie was born on September 9, 1924 in Taylor, Texas to Carl Luedwig Schoener, Sr. and Teresa Pircher Schoener. She was raised in and attended schools in Taylor. In 1959, she moved to Austin with her husband and two children, and remained a resident of the Austin and Cedar Park areas until her passing. She was a strong woman of faith, and attended Good Shepherd Lutheran Church every Sunday. Millie was also a fun loving person, and she loved dancing and playing cards and dominoes. She worked for many years for Safeway, and when she eventually retired, she began her new career of having fun and living life to the fullest. She was a very active person and was still going to the gym three days a week until she became ill.
Millie is preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Earl Hanley, who passed away in 1988; two sisters, Edna Pasemann and Eleanor “Peewee” Smith; brother, Richard Schoener; and her infant grandson, Devlin McDonald, who passed away in 1965.
Those left behind to cherish her memory include her daughter, Linda H. McDonald; son, Larry Wayne Hanley and his wife Catherine; grandson, Todd DeWayne Hanley and his wife Alicia; great-granddaughter, Jade Katherine Hanley; brother, Carl Schoener, Jr. and his wife Charlene; and numerous nieces and nephews.
An informal visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at the funeral home. Family and friends are invited to a formal visitation from Noon until 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 10, 2014 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville. Services will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, and interment will follow at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Millie’s name to the charity of the donor’s choice.
