Myron Orlando Burwell, Sr.

Myron Orlando Burwell Sr. was born on May 26, 1958 in Chicago, Illinois to Louis Burwell, Jr. and Flora Mae (Mccann) Burwell. He was the first of two children born to this union. Including their other unions, he was Louis Burwell's second of five children, and Flora Burwell's third of four children. Myron enjoyed a fun and carefree childhood. The family initially resided on the city's west side in the LeClair Courts community. Then following his mother's passing in 1968, the family relocated to the city's southside to a home at 104th Street and Rhodes Avenue in the Roseland community.

Myron graduated from Countee Cullen Elementary School in Chicago, Illinois in 1972. He then continued his education by attending Christian Fenger High School on the southside of Chicago. Myron joined the United States Army in 1975, and he served as a member in one of the U.S. Army's Field Artillery battalions at Fort Bliss, Texas. He was discharged from the U.S. Army in 1977 and returned to his hometown.

Myron courted Valerie Watson for several years in the early 80's, and they wed in January 1984. Together they brought three wonderful and beautiful children into this world: Myron Orlando Burwell, Jr. in July 1984; Justin Louis Burwell in February 1986; and Cory Lynna rd Albert Burwell in December 1987. Myron was employed as a mail carrier with the United States Postal Service during the early years of their marriage. However, the couple separated in 2000, and the children relocated to Austin, Texas with their mother. Myron left Chicago in 2007 and joined his younger brother Phelan Burwell in Atlanta, Georgia. In 2019, he left Atlanta, and relocated to Austin, Texas to be near his three children.

Myron departed this life peacefully on May 16, 2023. He was preceded in death by both his parents; and his older brother, Louis "Corky" Burwell. Myron is survived by his three children Myron Orlando Burwell, Jr. (Telah Burwell), Justin Louis Burwell, and Cory Lynnard Albert Burwell Sr. (Stephanie Burwell); his adorable grandchildren Jayren Louis Burwell, Kaiden Lena Burwell, Isabella Blue Burwell, Cory Lynnard Albert Burwell Jr., and Zoey Marie Burwell; his loving siblings Consuelo "Connie" Carr, Kelvin Bernard Carr, Phelan Lamont Burwell, Louis Deon Burwell, and Lashannon Louise Burwell; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
