Nicholas Isidro Montez, “Beanz” as he was known to many of his beloved friends, perished on September 29, 2011 on a roadway in Austin, Texas while riding his motorcycle. He was born in Austin, Texas to Andrea Ann Rodriguez of Cotulla, Texas and Isidro Alfonso Montez of Round Rock, Texas, both of whom survive him.
Nicholas is also survived by his wife, Shelly Rae Elkhill of Kailua, Hawaii; and his brothers, Matthew Aaron Montez of San Antonio, Texas, Christopher Daniel Montez and Michael Lee Montez of Round Rock, Texas. In addition, he is also survived by his step-mother, Nora C. Montez of Round Rock Texas. He leaves behind maternal grandmother, Elena M. Rodriguez and the late Joel B. Rodriguez of Cotulla, Texas; maternal aunt, Carla Niavez & husband Noel Niavez; and his uncle, Joel Rodriguez of Cotulla, Texas; his paternal grandparents are Lois Montez and the late Isidro Montez of Beeville, Texas; paternal aunt, Patricia Montez of Beeville, Texas and paternal uncle, Domingo Montez of Pflugerville, Texas; along with other loving relatives and many dear friends.
Nicholas graduated in 2006 from Carrizo Springs High School. He served his country as member of the United States Marine Corps, achieving the rank of Corporal. Nick was a Crew Chief with Crash Fire Rescue, stationed at Marine Corps Air Station Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. He loved his horse “Carrizo”, his dog “Cowboy”, and his motorcycle, and just being with his friends whether he was in Hawaii or in Texas.
Nicholas was a devoted husband, son, brother and friend. He loved everyone. Nicholas was able to make anyone laugh at any time. He had a good heart for all people. He was a simple man with hopes and dreams. His kindness spread to everyone he met with his chubby smile. Nicholas will always be in our hearts and will be greatly missed. We pray that one day we will all join him in the arms of our LORD. We love you Nicholas.
Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m., Tuesday, October 4, 2011, at the Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville.
Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at the Memorial Chapel of Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home.
A memorial service celebrating Nicholas’ life will be held at 6 p.m., Thursday, October 6, 2011, at the First United Methodist Church, 302 Center Street, Cotulla, Texas 78017.
