Norma Charlotte Brannon, age 84, passed from this Earth on February 16, 2018 in Austin, Texas. She was born Norma Charlotte Allen on January 25, 1934 in McAdoo, Texas, and was the sixth child of Alfred Justin (Buddy) Allen and Rose (Rosie) Allen.
Charlotte loved to serve others in both her professional and private life. She worked as a secretary with the Lubbock Independent School District for many years. When she and her husband, Les Brannon, moved to Austin, she worked in the banking industry, including The Bank of the Hills. Her work at the State of Texas was the most rewarding. She served in the Aged and Disabled Department and then in the Child Protective Services. She turned her empathy for those children in need into action by making dozens of small quilts for Project Linus. Charlotte was devoted to her family and made many quilts for her loved ones. Graduations, weddings, and births were celebrated with one-of-a-kind creations. Charlotte was a devoted Baptist and an active member of Sandy Creek Baptist Church as long as she was able. We would like to thank the staff at Brodie Ranch Rehabilitation and Hospice Austin for their loving care.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her siblings, 5 brothers, 2 sisters, her husband, Lester Laverne Brannon, and her granddaughter, Jessica Campbell.
She is survived by daughters, Donna Sproles, Sharon Shipman, Norma Ann Brannon, and son-in-law, Richard Sproles. She is also survived by grandchildren; Autumn Sproles, Eric Shipman, Destiny Sproles, India Welborn, Forrest Welborn, and Carol Campbell, grandsons-in-law; Chris Stutsman and Jerrold Wellborn, granddaughter-in-law, Theresa Villegas-Shipman, and great-grandchildren; Jaymes Welborn-Pierce, Honey Sproles, Bowie Sproles Stutsman, Pablo Dobson, L.J.
