Olivia Matilda Baker

Olivia Baker (98) of Austin, TX was called home on July 8, 2025. During her time with us, Olivia was a faithful member of Great Hills Baptist Church; she took great joy in being a part of the congregation and Sunday school. She also enjoyed trips to the Holy Land. Olivia was a powerful life force, passionate about many things. Education - she received two degrees, but the path she pursued was nursing. She was an advocate. She went on from nursing to Social Work, from which she retired after a long career.

Olivia loved to travel, the beach, Lake Travis, food, as well as music and the theatre. Above all, Olivia loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her Husband, Francis W. Baker Sr., Son - Francis W. Baker Jr., Father - William Childress, Mother - Matilda Gutierez-Childress, and Siblings - William Childress, Charles Childress, Mary Inman-Childress, Manuel Childress, Nelson Childress, Norma Childress, David Childress, and Benjamin Childress

She is survived by her daughters - Dominique Baker and Jackie Stevens (Charles). Her grandchildren - John Whigham and Abra Patterson (Todd). Her Great Grandchildren Jamie Whigham, Morgan Whigham (Jaime), and Jaeden Patterson. Her great-great-grandchildren, Laya, Neo, Ariella, and Xayden. And her brother William Oliver Childress.

A funeral service for Olivia will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.
