Oscar attended L.C. Anderson High School as an athlete playing both football and baseball. After graduation in 1959, he enlisted in the United States Army. During his enlistment, he traveled the world from Germany to Vietnam. He earned a business management degree from Vincennes University, a Vietnam service medal, and a national defense service medal. Some of his other military accomplishments include becoming an expert rifle sharpshooter, becoming Commander of Club Disabled American Veteran Bronze in Texas 2020, and many other honorable services. He was also a member of The Elk Lodge and he was the historian for the Hardison reunion for many years.
Oscar Hardison, Jr. married Gladys Mae Winkfield of Rockdale, Texas in Milam County on August 3, 1961. To this union, four children were born: Elaine Michall Hardison, Danny Keith Hardison,
Tamela Jean Hardison, and Steven Blake Hardison.
He loved to cook, barbeque, entertain, attend church activities, watch cowboy movies, watch Bruce Lee or John Wayne movies, and just being around his family.
Oscar is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Hardison, Sr.; siblings, Jimmie Lee Hardison, William Jewel Hardison, Jack D. Hardison, and Gladys J. Hardison.
He is survived by his first wife, Gladys Mae Hardison; his four children; eight grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; and his sisters: Cory Jackson, Gloria Johnson, Ester Urdy, Julia A. Hardison, Jill H. Thomas, and Sherry Lynn Alexander Gill.
