Pamela Jane Hafner, of Austin, went to her Heavenly Father on December 27, 2017, at the age of 54. Pam was a loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Pam was born August 8, 1963 in Fort Lewis, Olympia, Washington. She leaves behind her loving husband, Bryan Hafner, her brother and sister-in-law, Chris and Stacye Walden, niece Ashley Walden, brother-in-law and sister-in-law John and Kirsten Hafner, niece Matea, and nephew Jacob Hafner, sister Niki Fointono, stepfather Walt Makiej, stepmother Mickey Walden, mother-in-law Dorothy Hafner, along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins whom she loved very much.
She is preceded in death by her father Jim Walden, mother Sandy Makiej, and her grandmother "Gam", whom she loved and missed dearly.
Pam and her family moved to Texas when she was just a small child. She graduated from Lanier High School and attended Southwest Texas University, but found that she had a passion for cutting hair so she chose to change her career path and attended Barber College. She married her husband, Bryan Hafner, on November 11, 1989.
Pamela was a hairstylist for over 30 years and thought of her friends, coworkers, and clients as an extended part of her family. She loved cutting hair and was excellent at it. She will be remembered for her interesting stories and working long hours to take care of her clients. If you asked how late she was working she would say, "until midnight." She would rush in the shop "late" with some dramatic story of how the traffic was horrible, which didn't seem to bother her clients. They loved her. She was very committed to them, driving over an hour to and from work for many years while living in Temple, which is where she and Bryan moved to shortly after they were married until moving back to Austin about 3 years ago.
The moment you met Pam, you wanted to be her friend. She gave great advice, was an excellent listener and made everyone feel special. She was more like a sister than a friend or one's hairstylist. Her cheerful, loving, personality was her greatest asset. She never met a stranger and will always be remembered by her husband Bryan as his "Beautiful Bride." If you heard Pam speak about Bryan, you would know how much love she had for him. They were inseparable best friends and if he got a little out of line, you would hear Pam in her loving way say, "Bryan Dennis" or "Mr. Hafner."
Although Pam's death was sudden, her life was well lived. She has so many friends and had touched so many lives that her memory will not soon be forgotten. Remembering Pam, one cannot forget her beautiful Elizabeth Taylor eyes, her laugh, big hair, love of big shiny bling, and her insatiable appetite for juicy gossip and drama. She was a big fan of Elvis, Princess Diana, Jeff Gordon, the movie "Steel Magnolia", and the reality show "Big Brother."
Pam loved her family dearly and she was "Daddy's little girl." One may seek comfort knowing that she is now rejoicing in Heaven with her mother, father, grandmother "Gam", her beloved dogs, SuShi and Sadie, her friends, Debra and Pat, as well as others who left us way too soon. You dare not say "dogs don't go to Heaven." "No." Pam would not have it. Pam would want us to celebrate her life and know that she now has gotten her spark back in her beautiful blue eyes and is seeing all the glorious things that Heaven has to offer. Debra is helping her by showing her all the wonderful and amazing places as they rejoice in their reunion.
