He worked for the Travis County Sheriff’s Office for 27 years. He was the law enforcement officer of the year in 2009. He received his First Degree Black Belt in Karate from Santa Maria’s Karate in Killeen. He was a member of the Blue Knights and had a life-long passion for Harley-Davidson Motorcycles. Pete lived life to the fullest and made sure that he provided the best life he could for his family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Pete is preceded in death by his son, Raymond Anthony Mateo. Those left behind to cherish his memory include his daughters, Kasey Mateo of Round Rock and Nicole Barrios of Hutto; grandchildren, Abygail Barrios and Niko Henriquez of Hutto; and his sister, Doris San Nicolas of San Antonio.
A memorial service celebrating Pete’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville.
