

A most humble servant of the lord, Qui Nguyen of Cedar Park passed away peacefully on April 23rd. She was 98. She was born in Trang Bang Tay Ninh, Vietnam in 1927. Even though her exact birth date is unknown, it was celebrated on December 31st.
Prior to the war in Vietnam, Qui and her husband of 80 years had very successful coffee and rubber farms. Being devout Catholics, they channeled this success into what mattered most to them, their family, church and community. They were able to fund numerous priests through seminary school and support nuns in their convents. They donated the money to build the cathedral in Xuan Loc (Long Khanh) Vietnam, which is still in use today. They raised 10 orphan children, in addition to 10 of their own. She enjoyed spending time with her family and preparing amazing Vietnamese cuisine.
Qui is survived by her children Truong Duong (spouse Hong Nquyen), Tu Duong (Duyen Nguyen), Duong McFadden (Bobby McFadden), Phuoc Duong (Luu Huynh), Duc Duong (Lien Tran), Dung Duong (Trang Duong), Hanh Duong (Duc Nguyen), Hien Duong Sheridan (Tony Sheridan), son-in-law William Staats and daughter-in-law Lan Duong. She is also survived by her 29 Grandchildren, 52 Great-Grandchildren, and 7 Great-Great-Grandchildren.
Qui is preceded in death by her husband Xoi Duong, Parents Thay Van Nguyen and Sum Thi Le, Children Marie Staats and Tho Duong, Grandchildren Anthony Staats and Uyen Duong.
A visitation for Qui Thi Nguyen will be held at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660, on April 29, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
A Funeral Mass for Qui Thi Nguyen will take place at Holy Vietnamese Martyrs Catholic Church, 1107 E Yager Ln, Austin, Texas 78753, on April 30, 2026, at 10:00 am.
A Committal Service for Qui Thi Nguyen will follow at Cook-Walden/ Capital Parks Cemetery, 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660, on April 30, 2026, at 11:30 am.
