Bob was born August 25, 1948, to Percy and Elizabeth Driskell in Yokohama, Japan. He grew up in Killeen, graduated from Killeen High School and attended Central Texas College. Having grown up in a military family, he had a strong love for his country and supported our soldiers through many years of working at the gas station of AAFES in Alaska, Oklahoma and Texas. He also served for a time in the Naval Reserves. For the past sixteen years, Bob worked at the Texas Health and Human Services Commission, and was well loved by his coworkers.
A man of few words, he recently remarked about his youngest son: “What a good guy Billy is!” By this he meant Billy’s good nature and accepting spirit. He was also filled with profound admiration for his son Bobby’s artwork, and loved viewing his creations. Bob was very proud of his sons.
Weekends were special for the Driskell family. Bob loved making French toast for breakfast and enjoyed movie night with his wife and sons. Bob also took pleasure in taking care of the birds which came to eat at the birdfeeder in front of the family home, and he made sure to provide for them throughout the year.
Bob is survived by his wife, Sharon; sons, Bobby and Billy; brothers, Steve and Jerry; sister, Sharon Carr, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, John, as well as his mother and father. The family wishes to acknowledge appreciation for the excellent care he received from the ICU staff, nurses and doctors at St. David’s in Round Rock.
Graveside Services will be held on Monday, January 16, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., at the Cook-Walden Memorial Hill Cemetery, 14501 Interstate 35, Plfugerville, Texas.
