Robert Eugene Lester

Robert Eugene (Bob) Lester of Houston, Texas passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at the age of 93. He was born on April 6, 1932, in Shreveport, Louisiana where he lived with his family. He graduated from Fair Park High School in Shreveport, Louisiana in 1950 where he ran track and was active in church. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1955. From there he went straight into the navy.

Bob was working as an air traffic controller in New Orleans where he met and married Patricia Ruth Daniels in 1964. They were married for 61 years. Work relocated Bob and Pat to Houston in 1965.

He was actively involved in church in various volunteer positions and activities. Creatively, he was a woodworker and built a lot of furniture for the home and friends. Bob and Pat square danced for 50 years where they were in multiple leadership positions. They travelled all over the country sightseeing and showing off their square dance skills.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Charlie Lester, Sr. and Amy Goff Lester, and his sister, Dorothy Whittington.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Lester, his brother, Clyde Charlie Lester, Jr., his daughter, Deanna Miller, his son, Allan Lester (Sarah), his grandsons Matthew Lester (Kisten) and Andrew Lester as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at Brookdale Round Rock for the care and compassion they showed Bob in his final days.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at Brookdale Round Rock on Friday, October 24th at 2:30pm or the interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Shreveport, Louisiana on Sunday, October 26th at 3pm.
