

Born on January 2, 1940, in Old Town, Maine, to James H. Russell Sr. and Marguerita A. Russell. Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Angelina (Kelly), his parents, and his brother, Clarence Joseph Russell.
Bob dedicated himself to a career of public service. He joined the United States Air Force in 1959; his assignments in the military took him to England, Wyoming, North Carolina, Texas, and two tours in Vietnam. His final duty station was Laughlin Air Force Base, Del Rio, Texas. He retired in 1980.
In 1981, Bob was Hired by the Texas Department of Public Safety as a Communications Operator. He was promoted and transferred several times, moving him to McAllen and Corpus Christi, and was eventually promoted to Inspector at DPS headquarters in Austin, Texas. Bob retired from DPS in 2002.
Bob formed many enduring and lasting friendships along the way. He was actively involved in the Knights of Columbus, the VFW, the Catholic Church, and his PTSD group. He also loved getting together with his friends for poker night and breakfast outings.
Bob enjoyed his retirement, spending time with his wife, Kelly, and the family. In his early years, Bob enjoyed fishing and collecting arrowheads. His hobby was collecting coins. He could not pass a vending machine without checking the change slot.
Bob is survived by his children: Joe Russell (Priscilla), Bobby Russell, Deborah Russell, Norma Ramirez (Armando), Edna Maury (Jimmy), Melinda Harris (David), and Cesar Espinoza (Tammy).
Grandchildren: Seth Russell, Noah Russell, Cesar Espinoza Jr., Vanessa Ramirez Garcia (Henry), Marcos Barragan, Jenny Kinney (Josh), Destiny Taylor, and Jamie Maury.
Great Grandchildren: Sophia Benavidez, Mia Benavidez, Michael Benavidez, Marissa Barragan, Cambree Barragan, Ella Kinney, and Austin Kinney.
Bob is survived by his younger brother, James Henry Russell Jr., of Bangor, Maine.
