We first met Rob and family through our church in Fairfield, CA. We shared many family events from that time, but one memory of Rob stands out for me.

During a visit with a friend to Austin Texas we met Rob and his dad for a night out.  Knowing my interest in music of the Southwest, Rob suggested we go to a small restaurant in what appeared to be an older  residential area of Austin. Later in the evening the door opened at an adjacent garage and the band began to play.  I had no idea who the singer was but later found out Rob had introduced me to the great Don Walser, one of the last true Country & Western singers who at the time had a day job in the Austin area. I'm sure Rob's friends will recognize this small incident as an indication of Rob's love and respect for the music of Austin and the Southwest.

Rob, you left us way too early. But you left some good memories of family days in Fairfield and thank you, my friend, for that memorable night out in Austin and your love for that music.

More memories of our Mariner Ship couples group from Fremont Presbyterian Church, Sacramento, CA. My family met the Turk family in 1978.  I met Pat at an officers wives function and she asked me how many children we had (2 - sames ages as Rob and Steve), where we lived (three blocks from the Turks) and when we were moving in.  She decided right then that I was the friend she was looking for and she came over and helped us move in and we have been best friends ever since.   They had a pool and my kids enjoyed swimming in their pool.   We had a Sheltie, Princess, and when she had puppies, one of those puppies, Meagan, became their first sheltie.  When they moved to Texas, we continued to stay in touch and watched as Rob and Steve grew into manhood.  We were so excited when their children were born and when Rob found such happiness with Yolanda. David and Shelly and their kids visited with Rob and Yolanda several years ago and they were so impressed with the man Rob had become.

Reading the memories on this page from all the people that Rob knew paints a picture of a man who cared deeply for his family and for everyone he came in touch with.     It seems that he touched many lives with his friendliness, his support, his encouragement and mentored many.   Although he left us too soon what a role model and legacy he passes on to everyone.   He will be remembered in all of our hearts and minds.  

Pat, Bob, Yolanda, Max, Steve, Heather,  Logan and Morgan - our thoughts are with all of you at this very difficult time.   No one can make this journey easier on you but please know that we love all of you and are there for you if you want to reach out.

Rob was the table leader on my Walk to Emmaus and inspired me with his spiratual guidance.  I later saw Rob at several 'gatherings' where he always took the time to greet me.  He was a part of the band and was always playing a different instrument at each session.  Once when the rest of the band failed to show, Rob was alone and somehow played several instruments during the evening to lead our singing.  What a trooper!

Everybody that knew Rob misses him dearly. 

I knew him for only one year and in that time he became my best friend and  "older brother" that I never had. 

I know for sure he's up in heaven right now playing guitars, drums, any other instruments they have laying around! His spirit is so vibrant and powerful that he'll be with us all for the rest of our lives!

So sad to hear of Rob leaving his friends and family so soon, but I’m sure he was so excited to join Heaven’s band and worship our Lord in person!
It has been awhile since I had spoken to him, but Rob always had an encouraging word to share. Just as many other friends have shared, he was instrumental in helping me through a difficult time in life.  When I was ready to give up on life, Rob was chatting with me on Facebook and by phone at times reminding me that I am God’s daughter and that my trial was only temporary.

Oh where to begin with you?...

You who I never met but left such an impression on me. You taught me so many things, you mentored me and above all you were a very dear friend. 

Thank you, Robert. You were an amazing man. A very gentle human being.

We are heartbroken over the loss of our friend Rob. At the same time we know the joy he is experiencing in the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  His faith, and the sharing of the many talents he was gifted with will be greatly missed. They will never be  forgotten.

I am so sorry to hear the news  of Rob's passing.  I knew Rob as a great co-worker from our days at OWS.   He cared about doing a good job and supporting the people around him.  I have heard stories from other co-workers as well of  how his efforts helped projects during difficult times.   As we all traveled onward to our next jobs, he tried to keep in touch and help others who might need another job.   His kind words were always helpful.  We will remember him fondly and offer our deepest sympathy to his family during this unexpected time.



I am so very sorry to hear this news (via Facebook). I remember Rob from a Sunday School group at Northwest Hills UMC in Austin. He always brought amazing viewpoints, energy, and a wonderful sense of humor to the class. I also remember him playing the guitar and praise music for the whole church during worship services. I’m thankful for his life, and most of all his strong faith and trust in the Lord. Praying blessings for all of his family.

Dear Pat and Bob,

We have been praying about and processing the news of Rob’s death the past few days.  It is still hard to imagine.  We remember so fondly and well the crazy, yet wonderful times our boys shared during the early eighties in Rockwall and then college years.
Our peace, like yours I am sure, rests in faith and confidence Rob lives with the Lord and will help to ease your broken hearts.  Please know you are in our prayers and thoughts.

Today I mourn the loss of a mentor, colleague, and friend.  I will always cherish my time working at Overwatch, in large part because of you.  Our offices were right next to each other, and I'd yell "Buenos dias!" every morning, and you'd reply "Hola, Maria Garcia!".    Your work ethic was an inspiration to me, and your passion for family and Church was truly admirable.   Your zest for life will be sorely missed.  My heart goes out to those he loved most,  Yolanda, Max, his granddaughters, and his immediate family.  I will be thinking and praying for the family during this difficult time.

Rob was truly blessed, he loved God, love, and family. He was compassionate at the works of the Lord that he took time to do. The friends, family and community will miss you extremely Rob! We loved the time that you had with my sister, she was so fortunate to have the time you were allowed to have with her, Yolanda loved and still loves you so much, you are dearly missed by all.

Rob you were an amazing musician and apart of our crossroads band at Crestview. You were awesome and it was very sad to hear that you have passed, I know you are shining down with your wings with my mom.  Will miss you



I worked with Rob for 6.5 months from October end last year till May this year 2018. I last saw him the third week of June. He was such an authentic, caring, loving person and so much fun. I remember so many laughs with him and the team at work --- I am very sorry that he passed away so young. He talked about Yolanda a lot, about how nice she was, how she was part Czech and part Mexican, how she cooked such wonderful things and various kinds of food. I remember him ordering flowers for his mother and wife, and being excited to take the little granddaughter(s) to dinner. Rob was a can-do kind  person and a great team player, good at boosting team morale. I remember him saying that he thought team-building via games and meals etc was priceless. He seemed so passionate and told me about living in Damascus when he was young and about his travel and his son Max and how he was going to college. He was so sad when his dog had to be put to sleep! He had a good rapport with the offshore QA team and took interest in their lives and work. I will miss his laugh and smile and warmth and will listen to his CD's that he showed me online. I was so impressed that he volunteered at prisons and I asked him all about it. He died way too young but had a great faith and zest for so many things in life that we will all remember.  RIP Rob and all the best to Yolanda, Max and the extended family.

Thank you so much for sharing with us your memories of Rob and gratitude for his presence in your life. He touched so many people. Why am I surprised that there are so many I don’t know? He was an adult after all, but still my precious baby boy. Rob was always a people person who had lots of friends. We learned from our parents how to nurture and care for our many friendships and I’m glad Rob learned that lesson. 

I believe that God is the Great Mystery. I believe we are with God before we enter this earthly life in a way we can’t understand, we are with God in this life now in a way we don’t understand, and when we leave this earthly life we will be with God in a way we can’t understand. I know Rob is with God and has always been with God. I just wish he could send me some answers!

Our hearts are broken but we are lifted up by the love and support of our faith in God, our family and friends. We experience God’s presence through you. Love to you all.

Rob and I went to high school together but became better acquainted as adults through Facebook.  He had such a strong faith and conviction in his beliefs and was never afraid to speak up about what was important to him.  I admired his devotion to his family, especially Max, and rejoiced when he found such joy and love with Yolanda.  The addition of Yolanda's children and grandchildren truly seemed to fulfill him and bring great happiness to his life.  Rob was always available for his friends and gave generously of his time and talents.  I am thankful I had the chance to know him over the last several years and send my deepest condolences to his entire family.

Just heard the sad news on Facebook of Rob’s passing. To hear of such a tragic loss online somewhat seems appropriate in that it was the internet or rather a site called Beliefnet that I first met Rob from Texas. We became close friends and he even traveled to Boston to visit. We toured the historical area of the battle at Lexington/Concord and he told me of his family’s history to this historical time. He spoke of his son Max and his passion for music and God. We continued our friendship and were part of a group on Facebook from the friends that we met on Beliefnet. I was so happy he found and married his beautiful wife Yolanda. He was so happy to finally have his soulmate by his side. He thrived and continued his passions of God, music and family. I am heartbroken to hear of my friends’ passing today. I had always thought that one day he would bring his family to visit and my husband and I would show them around our state. My sincere condolences go out to his family and friends. I know he is in heaven making beautiful music, but our hearts here on Earth, though enriched from knowing him, are sad to say good-bye. 💜

I met Rob in college at UT Austin. Great guy and creative talent, particularly with words and music. And I have him to thank for introducing me to Rooster sauce. He had zest for life and ability to connect easily with others sharing a full-facial smile. We touched base randomly throughout the years, and he seemed to genuinely love being a dad. He will be missed.

Rob was a awesome guy.  So many memories of him and my brother hanging out over the years. He will be missed. My prayers and love are with you.

RIP Rob Turk.  I will miss our conversations about music gear and guitars.  You were one of a kind.  A gracious man, but also not afraid to fully and logically express your views. We are so sorry to learn of Rob's sudden and unexpected death in the prime of his life when things were going so well for him.  We have not seen Rob for many years, but we remember him as a funny, happy, friendly person who was full of life and love for others.  He always seemed to be smiling or laughing.  He will surely be missed by those who have known him throughout his life.  We don't know why he died when he did, but we pray that Pat and Bob, his family members and good friends will be able to gain strength from each other and from their faith in a loving, caring God.  We send our sympathy and love as you say good-bye to your wonderful young man and friend.  May God bless and comfort you in the days ahead as you work through your loss and grief together and each in your own ways.

I’m sitting here in shock and feel numb all over, except I can feel the tears. Rob Turk was a man that literally changed my life. He was the first person to encourage me and point blank (because we all know beating around the bush was not something he did) tell me I needed to do something with my photography other than just posting online. He was the first to call me an artist. He was the first to ask permission to use a picture for something. He wanted to use it as a cover photo for one of his songs he put on the site where he posted his music for download. Now I’m shooting bands and building relationships and clients in that arena with more happening soon. I hadn’t told him any of the upcoming news yet, I was waiting for everything to solidify and be completely official. I wanted him to know the impact and change he helped bring about. I do regret not picking up the phone. Fortunately, he knew he had helped turn and change my life for the better, I just wanted him to get the chance to know that those small seeds he planted 4-5 years ago were taking hold with opportunities to bear fruit.
For me he was an encourager, a sounding board, a shoulder to lean on, offerer of sage advice and wisdom, but most of all a friend. The amazing thing is I know he was all these things and even more for so many other people. The world we live in seems so cold and uncaring these days and there is such a dire need for people that embody these qualities and yet we lost one this morning. I feel like a child right now asking a parent why bad things happen to good people. How can your heart feel empty and heavy at the same time?
My thoughts and prayers go out to Yolanda, Max and the rest of the family. I cannot fathom your loss. Please know y’all are loved by all of Robs friends and that we are here if you need anything.
Rob, I know you are rejoicing in your destination, I just wish that your final trip could’ve been postponed for much longer.

One of the saddest things I’ve had to do in a while was letting the Class of 1989 know that you had passed away.  I was so shocked and saddened, I’m still shocked and my heart just hurts and the tears are still falling.  My dear Rob, in the early days of high school you were partly responsible for my love of “New Wave” music and countless laughs.  In these latter years of life you had become my biggest cheerleader and supporter in some of the toughest times of my life.  Whether recommending a book or quoting a bible scripture or just words of encouragement.  Watching my girls grow up through Facebook and reminding me that I was a great Mom and to not ever forget it.  Your love of the Lord and your family was admirable.   Your incredible talent as a musician was amazing.   Not to leave out the love of your Longhorns!  To Rob’s parents,Steve,  Max, Yolanda and the rest of the family, my thoughts and prayers are with each one of you.  I pray that you are all given the comfort and strength that only the Lord can provide.  Your son, brother, Dad and husband was a LOVED man!  He will be missed tremendously!  Lastly, here in Rockwall at Rockwall High School there is a saying that’s been around for a long time now.  It is JFND, it stands for Jacket Fight Never Dies.  Rob, all of the Class of 1989 and many other classmates that knew and loved you, we wish you God speed my friend.  We will see you again on the other side.  

Rob was a sweet soul.  I remember his kindness to “us younger kids” back when our families were together.  He is with his Lord now.  May God bless the Turk family.

In memory of a truly great guy.   Some of my earliest memories of "Robbie" are playing informal tackle football with his brother "Stevie" and him, and also cheering for the Dallas Cowboys.   Also, fun family traditions of celebrating Thanksgiving with his family in Rockwall.  More recently, I enjoyed following his love of the Lord, his family, politics, music and food (in that order) through his regular Facebook posts and replies to my family's posts.  This world is a bit less happy and fun-loving now that he is gone, but it is comforting to know that this is not the end, not the last word, and that we all will see each other again on the other side. I have countless memories of encouragement and music. during our time in school.  We later reconnected on Facebook.  Our friendship picked up right where we had left off!  You found out that I was in the process of writing a book to share my life ‘s story.  In the process of writing you would lift me up with kind words.
