Roy Lee was born on September 28, 1928 in Haskell, TX to Roy and Thelma Buntin. Roy Lee met his bride, Rosie Vinson in Stamford, TX. They lived across the road from each other, met and fell in love. They married June 15, 1947. They were married 74 years (almost 75). Their life as a family unfolded with the birth of their three children, Jeanne, Danny, and Debbie. Their legacy expanded to include nine grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and also ten great great grandchildren. Roy loved his family well, served his church as a deacon and Sunday school teacher for many years, a helper to his neighbors. His favorite hobby was wood working and he made many cherished items for his family.
Roy Lee had humble beginnings as a son of a farmer and helped his dad on their farm. One of his early fun jobs was working for the local ice company. He told us of coming out of the house after delivering 100 lb block of ice to find goats on top of his truck, but his greatest love was farming. Farming was a hard life which lead to moving to Lueders, TX and beginning work as a plannerman, and this lead to his life career! Roy Lee retired from his career of 38 years with Texas Quarries in 1993.
Roy Lee accepted Jesus at the age of 19 at a small church. Tuxedo Baptist Church in Tuxedo, TX. From that point Roy Lee led his family to know Jesus by his daily family devotions, teaching us about Jesus- that is the most wonderful legacy he could have left us. The last days of his life he was devoted to sharing Jesus with his friends at Platinum Resort Assisted Living and entertaining them with singing his favorite hymns.
Roy was preceded in death by his wife Rosie Buntin; his parents Roy and Thelma Buntin; his sister Jessie Rister; his son in law Jim Cours; and his great granddaughter Christine Bonner.
