Berley, as she was known by family and friends, was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Frank Janak, granddaughter Madeline Janak, her parents Ben and Albina Pavelka, brother Bill Pavelka, sisters Olene Thun and Adele Rendek.
Berley treasured her family and especially enjoyed times when everyone was able to gather together for her delicious meals, desserts and laughter that flowed. Mom is survived by her sons, Mark Janak and wife Honda, and Michael Janak and wife Amber; her daughters, Catherine Brennan and husband Chris, and Melisa Kocsis and husband Matt. She was loved and will be missed by her seven grandchildren, Bret Janak and wife Ann, Audra Curlett and husband Joshua, Alexandra Mutch and husband David, Kelsea Hiebert and husband Emery, Haden Janak, Grayson Kocsis and Hannah Kocsis; and her eight great-grandchildren, Colton Janak, Crosby Janak, Clara Janak, Cooper Janak, Jack Curlett, Eleanor Curlett, Charlotte Curlett and Floyd Mutch who knew her as Mimi. Berley is also survived by her brother, John Pavelka and wife Janie; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Berley was born on a farm near Elk, Texas July 24, 1931 and grew up in Central Texas attending Riesel High School where she was a good student and athlete. She worked in Waco, Texas prior to married life with Frank and starting their family in Granger, Texas. Moving to Austin, Texas to raise their four children, Berley was the envy of the neighborhood with her bountiful flower and vegetable gardens. She was also an avid Texas A&M Aggie football fan and loved attending games and visiting with all the children who graduated from Aggieland like our Dad, Frank, who started the family tradition. Berley’s acts of kindness, compassion for others, unconditional love and advice when asked are just a few examples of her service to others. She truly embodied a Christian woman’s Spirit.
