Sadie Mae Mitschke was born on March 13, 1937, to Walter & Ella Mitschke of Lebau, Texas. As a little girl, she moved with her family throughout Lee County— Beaukiss, Lexington and eventually to Giddings—places that helped shape the gentle, faithful woman she became. Growing up with a strong Wendish heritage, it was common for her to hear both German and English spoken around her. From a young age, Sadie made the most important decision of her life: choosing to follow Jesus. Her faith remained steady and unshaken through every season, and Jesus was always her source of comfort, joy, and peace.
After graduating from Giddings High School in 1955, Sadie moved to Austin and began her career with the State Highway Department. It was during this time that she met Milburn Wall. They shared a sweet and steady love and married after a brief four-month courtship on December 1,1962. Sadie later retired from the State Board of Control to dedicate herself to her growing family—a role she embraced with her whole heart. She and Milburn welcomed their first son, Glen, in 1965, followed by Steven nine years later, and finally Brian, who completed their family.
Sadie devoted her life to raising her boys with tenderness, patience and a quiet strength that made their home a place of comfort. She cared for her husband with unwavering love as he battled Lou Gehrig’s Disease, remaining right by his side until the end. Becoming a widow at just 58… made her intensely lonely, and losing her parents soon after in a tragic accident brought deep sorrow. Yet even in grief, Sadie held tight to her faith, finding comfort in God and in the precious relationships that surrounded her. She found joy again when she renewed a treasured friendship with the late Bobby Coe of Webberville, who became her lifelong friend, and companion.
Sadie’s home was always open, warm, and welcoming. Her grandchildren brought life and laughter into her days, and she poured out her love on them through little treats, gentle hugs and time spent, simply being together. Though naturally quiet and shy, she had a great sense of humor that delighted those who truly knew her. She was the kind of woman who quietly made others’ life better - offering a meal, giving a place to stay, contributing to a specific need, or simply a comforting presence.
In her later years, Sadie’s world became smaller, but her heart never did. Her loving kindness stayed with her until the very end.
Sadie leaves behind her three sons, Glen, his wife Terri, and their three daughters: Kalli Fletcher and her husband Remington, Ellianne Wall and Lyndee Wall. Steven Wall, his wife Kim, and son Cameron Wall. Brian Wall, his wife Bridget, and their precious twins, Addison and Aiden Wall. Her three siblings, Angie Bloomquist, Bernice Urban and Eugene, his wife Cheri and several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for all the prayers, visits, and cards that uplifted Sadie in her final years. Your kindness brought light into her life. She is now at peace, wrapped in the love of her Savior for all eternity.
