Sehriban U. Routh

On August 17, 2015 Sehriban Unal Routh passed away quietly in her sleep, at the age of 82 years. She left behind a large loving family made up of 2 daughters, a son, a grandson, sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews all of whom meant the world to her.

Sheri, as she liked to be called, was born in Ankara, Turkey in 1932. She went to school to become a registered nurse and after completing her schooling she went to work as an RN and also volunteered with the Red Crescent Society. Also, while working as a nurse she met Harry A. Routh who became her husband. They lived in Turkey and moved to Germany where her daughter Melek and son Otto were born.

While overseas Sheri learned both German and French as well as teaching herself how to play the guitar. She had a love of music that spanned decades playing the piano, organ, and guitar. Her musical taste was far reaching touching everything from Neil Diamond to the Beatles to Rosemary Clooney. She very much loved fostering that love of music in her children and grandchildren, encouraging all of them to continue in her footsteps.

The family moved to the United States in 1975 and soon after her last daughter, Susan was born. Shortly after Susan's birth her husband Harry passed away leaving Sheri to raise her children. They settled in Austin in 1978 where Sheri started her own business in real estate which she continued until the time of her passing.

Sheri was a proud independent business woman who loved her family and friends. Her love of her heritage, family, and friends was evident to anyone who had the pleasure of meeting her. She will be missed and mourned by all.

A memorial visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday, August 24, 2015 at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home with private entombment services following.
