Shandra Lynn Dufauchard Storey, a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother (“Grammy” and “Nana”), cherished sister, auntie, cousin, and treasured friend, passed away on July 5, 2025, after a courageous two-year battle with cancer.
Shandra was born in New Orleans, LA to Sidney Anthony Dufauchard Jr. and Carol Mae (Palmer) Dufauchard, and was the fifth of eight children from this union. She attended New Orleans Independent Schools where she excelled academically. Shandra graduated from L. E. Rabouin High School in 1986 and received a scholarship to attend the University of New Orleans. She later pursued her studies at Phillips Junior College, earning certification as a legal secretary. Driven by her passion for growth and excellence, Shandra went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership from St. Edward’s University, in 2011.
Her exceptional talents and professionalism were evident throughout her career. She worked as a legal secretary at Graves Dougherty Law Firm, and in 2011, landed what would become her dream job when she joined Electronic Arts, as a Staff Purchasing & Procurement Specialist. Shandra remained a dedicated and valued employee there, continuing to work with strength and grace through pain, fatigue and chemotherapy treatments until April 2025, when she began a leave of absence.
From her first union in 1986, Shandra welcomed two children, AnShanta M. (Kirton) Brown and Ryan A. Kirton. In 1998, she married George W. Storey Jr., who survives her and stood faithfully by her side. Through their marriage, Shandra and George lovingly embraced each other’s children, creating a blended family that included AnShanta, Ryan, Sharice Storey, George Storey III, and Antwon Storey.
Shandra gave her life to Christ at an early age. She grew up attending Pentecostal Church of Divine Truth under the pastorate of the late Rev. Helen Banks and Pastor Larry M. Haynes. As a teenager, she reaffirmed her commitment to Christ at Apostolic Outreach Center in New Orleans under the leadership of the late Pastor John Cupid. In 2007, Shandra and her husband George joined Promiseland Church in Austin, Texas, under the pastoral leadership of the late Bishop Kenneth Phillips and Pastor Shules Hersh. Even when her health prevented her from attending in person, Shandra remained faithful, participating in services online.
If you knew Shandra, you knew she loved God and her family with all her heart. She approached life with passion and joy, whether worshiping, spending time with loved ones, cooking incredible gourmet New Orleans style meals, traveling throughout the world, tending to her rose garden, or cheering on her beloved New Orleans Saints. Her radiant spirit, faith-filled heart, and zest for life were matched only by her remarkable ability to show up and meet needs, oftentimes even before others knew they had them. Her legacy of love and service will live on in the many lives she touched - family, friends and in-laws, as seen here today, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Preceding Shandra in death was her father, Sidney Anthony Dufauchard Jr., and her mother Carol Mae Dufauchard. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, George W. Storey Jr., her daughter, AnShanta Brown and husband Demetrice, her son, Ryan Kirton and wife Shandrece, stepdaughter, Sharice Storey, stepsons George Storey III and Antwon Storey; grandchildren DeJuan (DJ) Storey, Kerri Brown, Andrew Kirton, Ryan (RJ) Kirton Jr., Jaxon Brown, Nevaeh Kirton and Lennox Brown; siblings Tricia Iglus, Sidney Dufauchard, Trishena Jenkins, Darrin Dufauchard, Keenan Dufauchard, Dwyane Dufauchard, and Michaund Jenkins, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Shandra’s Angels: Estelle Brooks, Gina Crain, Michaund Jenkins, Trishena Jenkins, Loma Scott, Michelle Buford, Sue Sibley and Shandrece Kirton, whose unwavering love, support, and service were a constant source of strength and comfort throughout Shandra’s two-year cancer journey. Special thanks to her honorary angels: daughter, AnShanta Brown and granddaughters Kerri Brown, and Navaeh Kirton for their tender, devoted care and the joy they brought to Shandra’s heart every day. Your compassion will never be forgotten.
A homegoing celebration for Shandra will be held Saturday, July 19, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Greater Mt. Zion Church, 4301 Tannehill Ln, Austin, TX 78721. A graveside service will be held 3:00 p.m. that afternoon at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery, 14501 N Interstate Hwy 35, Pflugerville, TX 78660.
