Today I will say a final goodbye to a treasured friend. Thelma came to work for me....part time, at first....and more than two decades later, I reluctantly accepted her resignation  as a Vice President of my company. But she was so much more than that. Over the years, she found that her “job description” included (beyond being our comptroller), being a babysitter for my children who came to work with me,  mentoring and training new employees, hosting large parties for clients with me, overseeing the business growth of two companies, actually running the companies for me in my absence, comforting me during personal losses, being my guide in all issues financial......and above all, being my friend. 
 We would often say (after a particularly rough day), “I quit!”  And then the other one would say, “Nope, you can’t quit before I do”.  When she announced her retirement after 26 1/2 years, I jokingly called her a ‘short-timer’.   But as a retirement gift, we celebrated with a trip to Costa Rica. Thelma loves to travel and wasn’t afraid to try anything. We went to a volcano, toured coffee plantations, soaked in hot springs, took a nighttime jungle tour, went zip lining (not her favorite thing to do), rested on warm beaches, and even endured a small earthquake. 
I have already felt the loss of this amazing woman since she became ill. But now I know that Thelma is fully restored as a smart, lively, unselfish, adventurous, beautiful woman.  Buen Camino, my friend. 

My deepest sympathy to Theresa Raven and Hunter. Most of my life, I have been surrounded by my mother Dayle, my aunt Thelma and my aunt Ann.  These 3 women influenced my life more than anyone. I had laughter, tears, fun and sadness. I have enough memories, I could fill a book. I remember going to the pool with aunt Thelma shopping together, getting career advice and babysitting for her. My mom, Dayle, my aunt Thelma and my aunt Ann  were very close sisters. I hope that Theresa, Debra and I can carry the torch of these 3 strong women. I miss them very much and I know they are together now in peace.

I'm Aunt Thelma's niece and one of Dayle's  daughters .  I send my sympathy to Teresa, Raven and Hunter. Having lost both my parents, I know how difficult this time  can be.  The best memories of my aunt are from when she lived in California and how much time we all spent together. There was not a week that went by that we did not spend time doing something. We spent all holidays and most weekends, visiting,  going to church, playing games, cooking and eating.  I  also remember going to the beach with Aunt Thelma, which is something my own Mom would never do. In many ways,  Aunt Thelma was like having a back-up Mom. It was very heart-breaking to see the toll the dementia had taken on her and I hope she is at peace.  I not only miss my own Mom but both of my aunts.They were three  sisters with unique personalities and I would like to think they are together again.  Much love to Aunt Thelma, Aunt Ann and Mom.

I met Thelma shortly after she was displaying trouble with her speech, and eventually dealing with dementia. I’ve often wished I had met Thelma when she was completely whole and the fun person I had heard she was; however, I think God places people in our lives exactly in His time. I saw Thelma struggle with a word but I also saw the kindness in her face, the generosity of making me her Realtor, and her love of God. Well, Thelma, you are once again whole, and I’m so glad you are out of suffering. I love you, and always will.

She is survived by her daughter, Teresa West of Round Rock, Texas; grandchildren Raven Scalia of Leander, Texas and Hunter Knam of Round Rock, Texas; great-grandchildren Carter Robinson and Paisley Robinson both of Leander, Texas, as well as many extended family members and close friends.

In addition to her parents Thelma was preceded in death by her sisters Dayle Ford and Margaret Ann Anderson.
