Mrs. Bertero was born January 23, 1922, on Crowder Prairie in Oklahoma. She served in the Women's Air Corps during World War II. Mrs. Bertero was a long time Austin resident who earned a B.A. in Psychology at UT Austin when she was 65 years old.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Col. Frank R. Bertero, and her son, Robert.
Mrs. Bertero is survived by four children: Barbara Rice, Patricia Bertero, Janet Pellikka and Charles Bertero. Her nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild also survive her.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, 8134 Mesa Drive, Austin, Texas. Mrs. Bertero's family will arrive at St. Matthew's about 3:30 p.m. following a private burial at Memorial Hill Park in Pflugerville.
