Tyler was born on March 19, 1996, in Round Rock, Texas and waiting excitedly at home for him was his 10-year-old brother Travis. Even with the 10-year age span, their brotherly bond was very strong. He loved that he was Lil’ Edge since Travis was Big Edge. Travis took Tyler for his 1st tattoo on his 18th birthday, and he chose one that Travis already had so they could have matching tattoos. Tyler went onto have many more, but his most recent tattoo was in honor of his grandpa Lyle and one that he was most proud of…it was in his grandfather’s writing, and it was the word AMMO. If you knew Tyler, you knew how much this meant to him.
Tyler was honored to be his brother’s best man in 2006 when he married Nicole and happily took on the role of her protector when Travis was deployed to Iraq. Adding to his duties that he took seriously was becoming an uncle in 2013 to Ryker Todd. He loved every minute when he and Ryker were together.
At a very young age, Tyler found his love of cars. He was never without any type of toy car in his hand and as soon as he was able, he was driving. Tyler had a passion for Mustangs and had recently acquired one from his bucket list, a 2013 Boss 302. He was very proud of all the 6 Mustangs that he owned starting at age 15.
Tyler graduated from Hyde Park High School in 2014 and was a Varsity letterman on the Hyde Park Panther Football Team. He attended SFA for one semester and realized his calling was in the Automotive Tech industry and enrolled at TSTC in Waco and was sponsored by Lexus of Austin to attend the T-TEN program. Tyler was very honored to have made the Chancellors List in his first year of the program. He was extremely skilled with his knowledge in automotive, both learned and pure raw natural talent.
Tyler was a private person and kept his inner circle of friends very close. If you made it into his inner circle, know that you were a trusted confidant and he would do anything for you. His motto was “Ride or Die” for his closest friends. He was fortunate to have made many friends, some of whom he had never met in person but through online gaming and in various Mustang groups. Tyler had a deep love of family history and history in general. He was always up for a discussion on the Civil War or any of the World Wars, especially with his daily phone calls to his Grandma Denise. He was the keeper of family artifacts and proud to be that trusted keeper. The knowledge he had of guns was extensive, which came from self-taught learning and from his Grandpa Lyle who also taught him how to shoot, and Tyler was an awesome shot. He built several guns for himself and friends. One of Tyler’s favorite Christmas gifts he received from his mom was a lifetime Texas hunting license. His most treasured times were sitting out in the pasture dove hunting with his best friend, Mason. They have been friends since they were 6 years old and had such a connection that they called themselves “brothers”.
Tyler was able to realize his dream of living in the country. In September of 2020, Tyler and his mom were able to move to a place outside of Hutto that offered him the peace and serenity that he was looking for. He created a shop for his mustangs, a workshop for his gunsmithing and he enjoyed the pool for therapy and relaxation. One of his most peaceful moments was all the sunsets out over the pasture. Tyler never missed an opportunity to step out onto the back porch and just take them all in. He was able to teach himself how to use an offset smoker and worked on the detailed side of the perfect temperature, the perfect brine and the perfect smoked turkey for Thanksgiving. Tyler had a love for details. The more detailed something was, the better. He had a memory like a steel trap and had a brilliant mind that could generate facts so exact that whoever he was talking with would stop and look them up, only to find out he was correct.
Tyler had an old soul. He was kind and gentle and you knew where you stood with him. Tyler and his mom had an unbreakable mother/son bond. He loved her fiercely and took the role of protector of his mom very seriously. There wasn’t anything that would have stopped him from protecting her.
His passing has left a void so big in our hearts and that will never be filled.
Tyler was preceded in death by his grandfather, Lyle Bond, his great grandparents, Gerald & Glenola Bond and Oscar & Helen Harris, his grandmother, Diane Schramm and Uncle Todd Edgington.
