Velma V Guerra

Velma V. Guerra, born on October 23, 1944, in Alice, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2025, at the age of 80 in Austin, Texas. Velma was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who left a legacy of love and warmth that will be cherished by all who knew her.

Velma's journey began in Alice, where she grew up and pursued her education. At a young age, she earned her certificate in Data Entry, quickly establishing herself as one of the fastest in the field. Her dedication and skill were admired by her colleagues and served as an inspiration to many.

In her personal life, Velma was married to Jorge E. Guerra for 45 wonderful years. Together, they built a family filled with love. Jorge predeceased her, but their enduring partnership remains a testament to their shared commitment and affection.

Velma had a remarkable talent for cooking, a passion she expressed through the delicious meals she prepared for her family. Her Spanish rice, beans, and homemade flour tortillas were legendary, bringing comfort and joy to those she served.

She is survived by her children: Luzdivina Gonzalez, Joe O. Rodriguez, Cynthia R. Saenz, Jorge E. Guerra II, and Dagoberto M. Guerra. Velma was a proud grandmother to 13 grandchildren and a cherished great-grandmother to 16 great-grandchildren. Her family was her greatest pride, and she took immense joy in their accomplishments and happiness.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home & Cemetery, located at 14501 North IH-35, Pflugerville, Texas, 78660. A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will occur on Friday, May 30, 2025, at 10:00 AM, with a graveside service to follow.
