Victor Rodriguez Sanchez was called to heaven by our Heavenly Father on Friday, January 14, 2022 while surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eulalio and Ysidora Sanchez and his sister Guadalupe and her husband Raymond Gil and grandson-in-law Adam Robinson. He is survived by his devoted wife of 64-years Mary Carmen Sanchez; his 6 children, David and Kim Sanchez, Michael and Diana Sanchez, Lisa and Bardo Mendoza, Cynthia Sanchez and Stephen Sosa, and Daniel and Kim Sanchez.
Victor was born June 15, 1932 in Austin, TX. He was a lifelong resident of Austin, Texas. He attended Zavala Elementary and graduated from Austin High School. He served in US Navy for 2 years Active Duty, followed by 4 years in the Reserves, during the Korean War. He served on the USS Abnaki (ATF 96) ship in the Alaskan Aleutian Islands. He attended the University of Texas up until he met the love of his life at a dance in Taylor and started their family. Victor and Mary were married in 1957, in Taylor, Texas. They had five children and added 1 loving nephew. He worked 37 years with the US Postal Service retiring in 1987. He also worked at the State Capital for the Texas Senate also retiring after 20 years.
He had a large and loving family. He has 10 grandchildren, Mark and April Sanchez, Michael Jr. Sanchez, Adam and Cindy Sanchez, Joseph Sanchez, Jeremy Mendoza, Angel Robinson, Rocky Hernandez, Zachary and Stasya Sanchez, Nicolas Sanchez, Alyssa Sanchez, Madeline Sanchez. He has 16 great grandchildren, Joseph, Stephanie, Aryanna, Sienna, Jaylin, Mark Jr., Jonathan, Galen, Victor, Riley, Eric, Ryan, Maylanni, Presley, Noah and Aurora. He has a very close and loving extended family that includes the families of the Gils, the Navarros and Limons.
There will be a Visitation from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Rosary Service at 7:00 p.m. at the Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, TX on January 20th, 2022. The Funeral Mass will be Friday, January 21, 2022 at 9:30 a.m., at St. Mary’s Cathedral Church 203 E. 10th St. Austin, TX 78701. A Graveside service and reception will follow.
