Visitation will be Friday, December 6, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, December 7, 2019 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home with a graveside service to follow at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery. Reverend Ross Hartsfield and Reverend Harold E. O’Chester will be officiating.
Opal was preceded in death by Elmer, her loving husband of 37 years; her brother, AG Hale of Dallas, Texas; and her sister, Lee Ora Elmore of Hamilton, Texas. She is survived by her son, Charles and his wife Christine, both of Lexington, Texas; a number of beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins from the Hamilton and Dallas area; as well as, a host of friends who all loved her and will miss her.
She was a longtime member of Great Hills Baptist Church of Austin and found great joy in teaching Sunday School classes. She loved to travel and visited most of the states in the USA. She also traveled to Japan, the Philippines, Ireland, England, and Jamaica.
Opal held many employment positions; but, greatly enjoyed bookkeeping for many Austin area businesses. Later in life, she served as a nanny for several different families in the Austin area and maintained a close, personal relationship with those families until her passing.
Honorary pallbearers will be James Elmore, Addis Elmore, Eddie Elmore, Sonny Elmore, Larry Barner, Neil Vaclavick, and Jon Collins.
