On February 10, 2025, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Alma Jeanenne (Weaver) Downing, passed away peacefully at the age of 91. Though our hearts ache in her absence, we take comfort in knowing her love, wisdom, and faith will remain with us forever.
Born on December 24, 1933, in Seminole, Oklahoma, Jeanenne was the daughter of Tom and Mabel Weaver and grew up alongside her siblings Tommy, Glenda, and Johnny. She carried with her the values of faith, hard work, and family, which remained the foundation of her life.
Jeanenne married Robert Downing soon after high school. Together they had five wonderful children: Bobby, Jacque, Deedee, Danny, Denise, and one stillborn son Thomas. Jeanenne was a devoted mother who dedicated years to raising her children, filling their home with warmth, love, and the smell of home-cooked meals. Though their marriage ended after 20 years, Jeanenne’s strength, grace, and trust in God allowed her to maintain a kind and friendly relationship with Robert. This was an example of her love and forgiveness that inspired many. A woman of quiet strength and simple joys, Jeanenne loved a tidy home, a good book, and a hot cup of coffee. She cherished time with her loved ones, playing games on her tablet, and watching her favorite shows. Her greatest treasure was her family and her life was dedicated to
loving them unconditionally.
She is now happily reunited with her parents, her siblings Tommy and Glenda, and her children Bobby, Thomas, DeeDee, and Denise, whom she missed dearly. She leaves behind her brother John, her children Jacque and her husband Kent, and Danny and his wife Anne, as well as her grandchildren: Kim and her husband Chad, JR, Jessie, Deedee, Chris, Ricky, Danielle, Jeannie and her husband Brian, Rachelle and her husband Andy, Sara and Stephen.
Jeanenne was also blessed with 27 great-grandchildren: Stephanie, Gabriel, Andrew, Emilee, Eddy, Haylee, Remi, Junior, Alexie, Elijah, Ayden, Aylin, Alauni, Audrick, Taylor, Kennedy, Paisley, Whitley, Alex, Jace, Aria, Braden, Bailey, Keegan, Jackson, Oliver, Daniel and two great-great-grandchildren, Elena and Aziel all of whom brought her immense joy.
Jeanenne’s legacy of faith, perseverance, and love will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her. In her honor, take a moment to watch for a hummingbird or sit quietly with a good book and a warm cup of coffee, just as she would have loved.
Jeanenne’s celebration of life will be on Monday, February 24, starting with visitation at 10:00 am, and service at 11:00 am at Greenwood Memorial Lawn Serenity Chapel in Phoenix, Arizona.
