Amelia Acuna Yanez, 96, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother died June 15, 2012. A true Arizona pioneer, Amelia was born in Douglas, Arizona on June 6, 1916 to Santiago and Theodora Acuna. Amelia was a beautiful artist, seamstress and chef. She is survived by her sister Eloisa Mares, two daughters, Matilde (BeBe) Yatze, Theresa Gonzalez (Joe), many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Her family wishes to express sincere thanks to Hospice Home of Comfort, especially Kori, Jose and Luz for the loving care of their mother. Visitation will be held at A.L. Moore Grimshaw Mortuary, 710 W. Bethany Home Rd. in Phoenix, on Friday, June 22 from 5:00-8:00pm, with the Rosary beginning at 7:00pm. Funeral service will also be held at the mortuary on Saturday, June 23 at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Resthaven Park Cemetery.
