

Arthur Nelson Gerow Sr.,93, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2025. Arthur was born in Boscawen, New Hampshire on April 3, 1931, to Lyman William Gerow and Evangie Mae White. Arthur grew up as one of 10 siblings.
At the age of 19, Arthur joined the Army and served in the 132nd Ordnance Battalion, 10th Armored Division. During his service to the Army, Arthur was awarded the Combat Infantryman “CIB” badge, a Service Metal, The Bronze Service Star, and The United Nations Service Metal. Arthur was honorably discharged in April of 1953.
Arthur married his first wife Lillian Joyce Anderson on June 23rd 1953 in Goffstown, NH. They had five children; Bruce, Arthur Jr, Clayton, Doleen and Michael.
He married Virginia Hanson and had a blended family of 10 children. Virginia and Arthur were married 20 years before Virginia passed away. Arthur shared the remainder of his years with Bea Lawrence.
Arthur had a passion for keeping busy by buying, fixing and selling houses. You could always find him at the corner donut shop with friends. Arthur enjoyed entertaining with family and friends, with plenty of BBQ gatherings at his house. His door was always open to the neighborhood kids. He loved collecting coins. He loved reading the morning paper with Bea and discussing the latest news. He loved fishing. He loved playing the stock market. He was a member of the Elks club for over 30 years and helped with many fundraisers to help the less fortunate. You can always find him collecting clothes for the local shelters.
Arthur had a career as a Colorist for a Textile Company in New Hampshire and California, and worked for the City of Phoenix for many years until his retirement.
He is survived by his children; Arthur (Julie) Gerow Jr, Clayton Gerow, Doleen (Lee) Harris and Michael (Pat) Gerow, 6 grandchildren: Jeffrey, Lindsie, Angela, AJ, Michael, Kielee and 8 great grandchildren. With his marriage to Virginia he had 5 stepchildren: Sylvia, Jerrilynn, Jay, Richard, and MaryAnn, with 10 grandchildren,15 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
A Hero's Service will be held at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona on Monday, March 17, 2025 at 2:00 pm sharp. The cemetery is located at 2929 E, Pinnacle Peak Road, Phoenix, Arizona 85024. Officiating will be Chapin Roy Drapeau.
