

home in Tempe, AZ. He is survived by Sally Selaya, their two boys; Roland
(Lorena) Selaya and Tyler (Brittany) Herron; two granddaughters,
Carolena and Charlotte Herron; and two brothers Terry and Mark Herron.
Born in Quincy, Illinois, Dec 29, 1947 to Arthur Earl Sr. and Dorothy
Ann Herron. In 1963, the family moved to Arizona where he graduated
from Tempe High in 1966. A USAF Vietnam War Veteran, he served with
352nd TFS at PhanRang, AB Vietnam and 381st MMS at RAF Woodbridge,
England. On his return, Sally and Artie met, married, and moved to
Cat Island, Bahamas to run a small resort, dive in the sparkling
Caribbean waters, and spearfish tasty groupers.
Artie was general manager and operated University Body Shop in Tempe
with his Dad and brothers, then, was Materials Engineering Technician
at Allied Signal Aerospace; manager at Basic Metals Industries, and
most recently Engineering Technician at Refrac Systems.
In his younger years, Artie desert raced motorcycles with Arizona
Desert Racing Association. Throughout his life, he enjoyed camping
with family, hiking, motorcycles, rebuilding old cars, and sharing
stories with friends and family. Artie will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of his Life Service, featuring several of his classic car restorations will be held 4:00pm, Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Carr-Tenney Mortuary, 2621 S. Rural Rd., Tempe, AZ 85282. He has requested donations be made to the American Cancer Society on
