Barbara Ann Benn Phelps

She was born in Greensboro, North Carolina, On April 14, 1934, to the late George F. and Elma M. Benn of North Carolina.

She graduated from Sumner High School in 1952 in Greensboro, and married Julian N. Phelps on January 17, 1954, in Greensboro, son of Leonard E. and Stella H. Phelps of Olivia, North Carolina.

Being a Navy wife, she was blessed with frequent moves and adjusting to new challenges, without complaints.

Many new friends were acquired along the way with BETA SIGMA PHI sorority involvement at each location.

Eventual trails would end in Phoenix in 1969 after Julians' service obligations were concluded.

She was preceded in death by her Son Eugene W; and is survived by her Daughter Gwendolyn Strong and husband Russell; Grandchildren Steven and Kitty Nestel, Julie Nestel, Jena Phelps, Brian and Mikki Phelps, Nikki (Strong) Reynolds and several Great-grandchildren.

Remembrance services will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Greer-Wilson Chapel, 5921 West Thomas Rd, Phoenix, Arizona 85033, on March 26, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
