Billy Joe Adams was born February 26, 1931 on a farm in Greenbrier, Tennessee. He was the youngest of 11 children born to Peter and Idella (Swift) Adams. He joined the Air Force and rose to the rank of Technical Sargent. While stationed in England, he met and married Jean Frances Porter. While stationed at Lancashire, England, their first child, a son, was born. They returned to the states at Pope Air Force Base in North Carolina. Their second child, a daughter, was born. Six months later, he was stationed in Sembach Germany. He then returned to the states and retired to Travis Air Base in California after serving twenty years in the Air Force. Shortly thereafter the family settled down in Hendersonville Tennessee. After Peter and Dawn completed their education, the family moved back to California. After almost 14 years, California sure had changed economic wise! So they met up with some friends of Billy and settled down in Phoenix, Arizona.
He is preceded in death by his wife Jean, his parents and 9 of his siblings. He is survived by his sister Beatrice Whiteley (94), his son Peter (62), his daughter Dawn Woolworth (59) along with her husband, 3 grandchildren, Ben Woolworth, Michelle Woolworth and Sarah Woolworth. We shall miss him deeply, however, trust he is no longer in pain in HEAVEN!
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of the Valley or any charity you choose near and dear to you.
Funeral Home Services for Billy are being provided by Advantage Funeral and Cremation Services of Phoenix, Arizona.
