Bryan Lee Muth was born September 7, 1947, in Michigan City, Indiana to Lois and Andre Muth. Bryan devoted his life to his country and his community. He honorably served in the United States Army where he was deployed to the Vietnam War. Upon his return from the Vietnam War in 1968, Bryan served as a police officer for the Constantine Michigan Police Department, Saint Joseph County Michigan Sheriff’s Department, Vicksburg Michigan Police Department and Kalamazoo Township Michigan Police Department. During this time, Bryan continued to serve in the Michigan Air National Guard where he was assigned to the Battle Creek Michigan Air Guard Fire Rescue Service. Bryan also volunteered as a firefighter for his community. In 1981 Bryan relocated to Phoenix Arizona where he settled and proudly served as a Phoenix Police Officer from 1981 until his retirement in 2005. Not only did Bryan establish lifelong friendships on the Phoenix Police Department but he was well known for his work ethic and devotion to good police work. Following his retirement, Bryan worked as a Private Investigator where he never gave up his affinity for hard work while making a lasting impression on the community he served. He enjoyed getting together with friends and especially his “donut summits” with other retirees. Bryan was a loyal friend, always thinking of others before himself, never hesitating to check on those he recognized were going through hardships. In his spare time, Bryan worked tirelessly to improve the lives of homeless people he encountered in the community with financial assistance from his own pocket; while connecting them to services he had established in the community. Bryan was well known for spending much of his time and pension on charitable organizations. One of Bryan’s most signature gestures was gifting donuts, as a symbol of gratitude and appreciation to others who were critical in the furtherance of service to the community. Bryan was an animal lover and leaves behind his beloved dog “George” who he adored and spoiled, his sister Mary Keyser, nephews Travis Birr and Adam Birr. A memorial service will be held at Shadow Mountain Mortuary, located at 2350 East Greenway Road, Phoenix, AZ, 85022, on January 10, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:30 am. In lieu of flowers Bryan has requested donations be made to an animal shelter of your choice, National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund or to Cleo N Lewis Ministries, Inc.
