Byron Eugene Connor

Byron Eugene Connor, age 91, of Phoenix, passed away on Thursday, October 18, 2018. He was born on August 24, 1927 to the late Douglas and Virginia Conner in Mexia, Texas. At the age of 17, Byron enlisted into the United States Navy proudly serving for four years during World War II. Byron was a Printer for the Arizona Republic Newspaper until his retirement. On April 17, 1953 he married Florence Ferrier in Washington, D.C. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time. Byron is survived by his loving spouse of 64 years, Florence; four children, Jody Prashaw, Dennise (Dale) Hise, Valarie Burks, and Lori (Patrick) Murray; two siblings, Clara Nell (Tom) Morton and Douglas (Mary) Conner; Eleven grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and many other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Timothy James Connor; two siblings, Joyce Ramey and George Brady Conner. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Friday, October 26, 2018, at Shadow Mountain Mortuary, 2350 E. Greenway Road, Phoenix, Arizona 85022 with the Funeral service to follow at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Byron’s honor may be made to the Northwest Valley Baptist Church, 4030 W. Yorkshire Dr., Glendale, AZ 85308.
