He was born in 1933 in Phoenix, Arizona to Phyllis and Vaughn Shaver. While attending North High School, a beautiful girl, Nancy, moved in next door. He invited her to a school play and they were together for the next sixty-four years until her death in 2016. Together, they raised four children.
The family enjoyed camping and fishing adventures at Woods Canyon Lake or Big Lake in the White Mountains. Carrell and Nancy loved to travel, went on several cruises and spent much time on the road in their trailer.
Carrell had a long career with A J Bayless grocery stores, starting as a carry-out in high school and ending as a manager at several stores. When the Bayless company closed, he spent a few years with Zachrich-Horn food brokerage before retiring. Carrell remained friends with many Bayless employees and had breakfast every Saturday morning with fellow Bayless old-timers.
Carrell is predeceased by his parents, his brother, Paul, his wife, Nancy, and two sons, Stanley and Stacy. He is survived by his daughters, Sally Malone, and Sydney Hawkins (Rob), and son, Stewart (Maria). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Carolyn, Kelly, Cooper, Sheridan, Jami, Stephen, and Dawn as well as extended family including numerous blended grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
He was the nicest, kindest man and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
A Celebration of Life / Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at A.L. Moore-Grimshaw Mortuary in the Agave Venue beginning at 10;00 am.
